~Online Classes

Welcome!

In January, I decided to make the most of corona-cation by starting a weekly online class. COVID made it nearly impossible to participate in extracurriculars outside of school or help my community, but I realized the best way to reach people around me was through a screen.

As of 03/07/2021, our 6-week Introductory Python Course is complete. I would love to reintroduce this course again in the future, but our next step is to start a high-in-demand Introductory English course. This will cover sentence structure, paragraph structure, and eventually combining all skills learnt into a top-quality essay.

Over the course of six weeks, I led a group of around 15 students in learning basic Python programming. During the first week, we opened new accounts for everyone in JupyterLabs and covered proper syntax and ‘print’ statements. The second week was a review of the first week as we had a few more students join us. The third week got a little more complicated; we started talking about types and how to identify, convert and use types correctly. There was some confusion with types, as this was a new topic. As the weeks went on, the topics progressed to complex subjects such as lists, tuples, and dictionaries. This is when we stopped our coursework. The members of the group were unanimously satisfied with what they had learned, and it was time to move on. It was such an amazing opportunity to be able to share what I love to learn in my free time. This upcoming course is learning how to write the most professional sounding essays. I hope to cover everything from basic grammar and word agreement to forming 5-paragraph essays in however many weeks it takes. It is crucial for everyone to participate so I can make the most efficient lesson plan that will help every person attending. I can’t wait!

If you would like any power points from the Python course, please email me at janepb04@gmail.com or DM me @janepb04 on Instagram!

Love, Jane
